The public hearing into CBC’s revised local plan has been scheduled to commence on Tuesday 21st May at 10am in the Council Chamber at Chicksands.
The hearing will run over several weeks up until the end of July 2019 – all of the details about the hearing can be found here, including the full timetable.
Although the plan covers the whole of Central Bedfordshire, and there are significant developments proposed in the south of the county around Dunstable and Houghton Regis, the proposed development sites around Leighton Buzzard and Linslade are on a much smaller scale (just about every inch of land that could be built on has already disappeared under concrete!).
Members of the public are welcome to attend the hearing – it looks like these sites will be discussed on Thursday 20th June starting at 10am, although it is not entirely clear from the schedule if this is definitely the case. If you have any question, you can contact the Programme Officer Ian Kemp on 01527 861711.
Leighton Buzzard and Linslade have already grown to a size that is inappropriate for the infrastructure we have. This local plan will offer protection to the town, and will make it more difficult for land owners and developers to submit speculative planning applications. Without a local plan, it becomes a free for all and it becomes a lot more difficult to block major developments around the town.
